I am an amateur photographer living in Colchester, Essex  and apart from photography I enjoy reading and gardening.

My garden is mainly planted to attract insects which I love photographing.

 I have never been employed as a photographer and my work has never involved photography. So I am very much an amateur.

I have always been interested in wildlife and natural history.When I got a camera, about 20 years ago, it was to record birthdays, holidays and other family events but I quickly realized  I could use it to record what I saw when wandering around woods, rivers, meadows and other "wild" places.

I began by shooting film back in the late 1990's, but there have been several gaps in my photography during the past 20 years.

I changed to digital about 10 years ago. You could say I was very late to the party. I shoot Nikon, for no other reason than this was the first SLR camera I purchased, so my collection of lenses is built around Nikon bodies.
